How many times have you thought to yourself: "Ruby would
be so much better if I could only run it on the JVM!"? Well, you can!
This session will (test drivenly) design and build an application that
makes investment decisions based on a set of rules. The application
will integrate ruby, java, and JESS (the rule engine for the Java
platform) to create a web-based stock picking expert system that will
(definitely not) let you quit your day job.
The price data will be from the BATS exchange (which provides XML
formated time and sales data). The rules will be somewhat arbitrary
and taken from participant feedback. The rest will be a mix of ruby
and Java code. JESS is a system loosely based on CLIPS designed to
facilitate the creation and maintenance of production rule systems.
