What we're about
Clifton Foodies 30s & 40s is a dining club, visiting all kinds of restaurants in Bristol and sometimes a little further afield. The group is for anyone who loves really good food and wants to sample what the city has to offer as well as meet new people. We visit a range of whole range of eateries ranging from Asian street food to Michelin starred haute cuisine.
To confirm your place at an event, you'll pay a deposit (normally £20) into a dedicated Paypal pool which will be deducted from your final bill at the event, plus £1 for each event you attend, which helps me cover Meet Up's fees for running the group. Instructions for deposits will be emailed a few weeks before the event.
PAYING THE BILL
We do not go dutch, so you don't need to worry about only ordering a salad and being charged for someone else's lobster platter! Diners only pay for what they ate or drank plus whatever service charge the restaurant has added - if no service charge has been added then please add 12.5%.
Being considerate and respectful for fellow diners and restaurants is extremely important within a small group with limited places at events. Late cancellations and no shows have particular financial impact on the smaller independent restaurants we visit and also the diner’s experience of the event itself, not to mention bad manners!
No-shows (leaving your RSVP as a Yes and then not showing up or changing it to No within 3 hours of an event) are incredibly disrespectful to the group and the restaurant. No shows will be automatically removed from the group.
Late Cancellations (cancelling within 48 hours of an event) may be bumped onto the waitlist if you have a record of being a no-show or late cancellation in favour for another member with a good attendance history. Out of respect for the other diners, anyone who makes a habit of cancelling late will be removed from the group.
Any cancellations after the deposit deadline (approximately 5 days before the event) has passed will not be refunded unless someone else fills your place.
If you end up on the waitlist for an event, assume all is fine as we normally get at least one person drop out. There's also never been a problem with adding numbers to a restaurant booking - the reason I put a certain number of diners, normally 6-8 is because I book a table with those numbers and then nearer the time will add one or two if necessary. I don't like having to keep calling them to make changes to the booking or making them cross by suddenly letting them know that a table for 8 is now a table for 3 right before the booking.
Any member who hasn’t been to one of our meet ups in 6 months or who hasn’t visited the site will be removed from the group. You’re very welcome to apply to re-join though as long as it’s to become a participating active member.
