Dan Bihn Senior Fellow at PSU to give talk on "Sharing Electricity in a time of need"

The magnitude 9.0 earthquake, ensuing tsunami, and nuclear meltdowns of 2011 showed Japan the importance of sharing limited electric power during the disaster and the year-long recovery. And Japan learned sharing wasn't easy using its existing grid. The country has set out to change this.

Delightfully, the investments needed to improve sharing not only increase the grid's resilience, but help the grid accommodate increasing amounts of wind and solar energy. And it pays for itself.
