Halloween Dine and Climb

  • Oct 31, 2012 · 6:30 PM

NOTE: some of are still climbing tonight. However, due to uncertainties related to Hurricane Sandy, please send me (Jaron) a personal message if you're interested in joining us. Take care everyone and be safe!

Our regular Wednesday climbing meetup is on Halloween this week! You know what that means? Costumes! They're optional, of course, so you don't have to wear one, but many people will. There will be door prizes for best costume, Halloween themed music, and candy. Just a reminder, though, that you might want to double-check that you can actually climb with whatever you bring:

We'll first meet for a quick bite to eat, and then climb with the Rock&Ice meetup at Brooklyn Boulders. Please let us know in the comment, when you RSVP, whether you'd like to meet at 'sNice or BKB.

'sNice (315 5th Ave, Brooklyn) is a nice vegetarian café (with plenty of vegan options) that's just a few blocks from BKB! Let's grab a quick bite before heading over for some climbing. I'll have a red table tent for Vedge.

If anyone would like to meet directly at Brooklyn Boulders (575 Degraw St, Brooklyn, NY), I'll post the day before what I'll be wearing, so it'll be easy to find me there. Brooklyn Boulders has given our meetup the discounted rate of $18 (including all gear). Just tell them you're with Vedge when you arrive.

Notice to beginners: if you have never ever climbed or belayed before you will need to take a Learn the Ropes class. These can be scheduled here. There is a nominal fee for this. What to wear: comfortable clothes (think yoga).

Notice to newcomers: You need to pass a belay certification test. If you've belayed before, the test will only take a couple of minutes. If you need a refresher, a test partner, or belay partner, just let me know.

With the subway out, don't think I'll be able to make the trek to BKB :-( Next time!

Good point! I've updated the meetup description accordingly. I look forward to seeing your costume!
