What we're about

Let's get together for special movie/music nights at the Clinton Street Theater. Lots of great new things are happening at the Clinton, so let's be part of this historic neighborhood fixture as it moves into its 100th year. Live Music Mondays, KBOO @ the Clinton, REEL Eats, REEL Feminism, REEL Relics, Bad Movie Nite!, upcoming film festivals, classic rep programming, family matinees, indie filmmaking with director Q&A--there's something for everyone. We can grab a bite at one of the great restaurants on the corner, and afterwards hit one of the local bars for a brew or cocktail to engage in lively discussion about what we've just seen and heard.

Dance the Time Warp @ The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Clinton Street Theater

• What we'll do Every Saturday night since April 1978, the historic Clinton Street Theater has played host to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Before Gaga told us it was okay to be "Born This Way" we had the fishnet clad sexual liberation of Frank-n-furter teling us, "Don't Dream it, Be it." 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays include the Clinton Street Cabaret, a staple of classic Portland, Oregon offbeat entertainment. Founded in 1987, the CSC has been thrilling, chilling, and fulfilling Portland audiences for more than 30 years. They start the evening out with a pre-show that includes virgin games, and they perform live as the movie plays on the screen behind them. This can be a rowdy, raunchy Rocky experience. Think South Park without anything bleeped out. On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, in the spirit of over 40 years of this liberation, we invite you to come "Be It" Yourself. The Rocky "BIY" nights turn the attention on YOU the audience. You bring the costumes! You bring the dance numbers! You bring the fun! Regardless of which Saturday night you choose, unpack that French Maid's dress from that box behind the kids' old toys and dust off your tap shoes. Whether you are are a virgin or a veteran you'll delight in this cinematic right of passage and cherished Portland tradition. Cast nights: Doors open at 11:30pm, Preshow starts at midnight, movie gets started around 12:40am. No alcohol is served at this show. BIY nights: Doors open at 11:00pm - beer, wine & hard cider available for those 21 and over. Preshow with virgin games and MC Nathan starts at 11:30pm, movie starts at midnight. • What to bring Costumes encouraged; prop bags for sale or bring your own. https://cstpdx.com/content/rocky-horror-costumes https://cstpdx.com/content/theater-approved-props • Important to know Remember this is an interactive show. While the cast has certain rules and guidelines under which it operates, we cannot control and would not want to censor the conduct or speech of audience members. We do insist that there is no nudity in the theater at any show designated all ages, but you may hear language and jokes that are gross and offensive and politically incorrect. The Be It Yourself nights, while fully audience directed, are designed to be more family friendly and for those eager to have their first Rocky experience. At any Rocky Horror Picture Show, your limits of what constitutes public intercourse and decency will be challenged. But we have created a safe and welcoming place for stretching sexual boundaries and awareness, so if this appeals to you, come on down to the Clinton Street Theater on any Saturday Night, because we've got a home for you.
