22.4 or 25.6 mile options.
Distance, pace and climbs
The short route to Moraga and back is 11.2 miles each way for a 22.4 mile round trip. From central Lafayette to Moraga there is about 500 ft of climbing in about 5 miles.
The longer Orinda loop is 25.6 miles and has an additional 300 ft of climbing on Moraga Way and a small amount of climbing on the return trail
The nominal pace on the flat if there were no wind would be around 15 mph, but we will probably have a strong head-wind on the out-bound leg so the pace will be slower than 15 by the speed of the headwind, and even slower on the climb.
Your ride leader like to ride down hill at 18 to 20 MPH when it is safe to do so.
By participating in this ride you agree that we are just a bunch of people going for a ride together and not a club or association, that you are fit enough to ride the route and pace as described below, that bicycling is an inherently dangerous activity which you are competent to participate in, and that in the event of a mishap you will not attempt to recover damages from the ride leader, any of the other riders, and organizer or co-organizer of the Meetup group or the Meetup organization as a whole. You further agree that if you make an attempt to recover damages in violation of your agreement not to you may be publicly denounced in any media as "a person whose word can not be trusted."
You may not participate unless you are wearing a helmet.
