• What we'll do
In this Meetup, we invite you to bring your laptop and code along, as we learn how to create an entire application. complete with HTML and CSS, in pure vanilla Javascript--no jQuery, other libraries, or frameworks required. Starting with just one empty div tag in the body, you will hand code an entire application HTML and CSS in pure vanilla Javascript. Loops and arrays play a central role in this, as do certain JS methods, such as createElement() and appendChild(), as well as the JS properties style.cssText. This fun exercise that will give you a deeper understanding of objects, methods and properties. We will also cover how to load data dynamically into your application, using AJAX and JSON. This will position you well for more advanced studies in SPA (Single Page Applications) with React.js and Vue/js, which create and maintain the DOM dynamically, using "states". This is a good chance to clear up the differences between var, let and const. In the interest of not "abstracting away" the code, we will be keeping this pure, Vanilla Javascript--no libraries. frameworks or plugins will be used. Look, ma--no jQuery! You will have just a minimalist HTML page and one dot-JS file. See you there then!
