Weekly Hack Night

Our weekly work session will be at the Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall Square, on the FOURTH FLOOR, in the KATHMANDU room. We'll take a few minutes to go over current projects, and then have the rest of the time to hack. There is a pay parking lot underneath the building, and limited meter parking in the area. The best way to get to CIC is by Red Line.

Please make sure to check in with security when you arrive. Since we only have one entry key to the building, drop a comment here when you arrive and someone will come open the door from the foyer for you. Come by to say hi and hack with us!

Hi All - I think I left my power cord in the room last night. I think I left it plugged into the outlet in the back right near the window. Does anyone work in CIC? It is black. The transformer is ~3" x 2" and the cord that connects to the laptop is very thin with a straight plug on the end.

If there is any chance the someone could take a peek for me that would be amazing.

    My cell is[masked]-4895.

How about a lost and found app that allows you to snap a picture of a found object and the time stamp and geolocation detail gets attached automatically. Not a terrible idea...

    Thanks!
    Matt

Hey, when you guys arrive, can you try using Meetup.com's CHECK-IN feature? I want to see if it's a possible solution to the security issue and me not having to camp at the door for the first 20 mins of each event :D

    Any more spots?

Hi Eric; due to the Python meetup at NERD, a number of spots have opened up for tonight's event.

Hi guys, I just opened up my spot because I'm going to check out the Python Open Gov meetup across the road.

@Praneeth: While the Brigade does occasionally run hackathons and other tech-focused events (like our upcoming Earth Day Hack Day), the Weekly Hack Nights present a more casual opportunity for Brigade members to get together on an ongoing basis.

At these meetups, members work on their civic technology projects, seek design and/or development help or other feedback, meet and talk with other civic technologists, and start new Brigade projects. Mostly, it's to make sure that we have a chance to get together on a regular basis as we build the civic technology and innovation community in the Greater Boston area.

You're more than welcome to bring a laptop if you'd like - folks have done both depending on what they're coming for.

Hey guys, I am still little unclear about what actually goes on in this meetup, do we get to work on new projects or is this something similar to hackathon? And can you also let me know we need to get our laptops

I will wear skinny jeans so I can fit into the conference room.

Something unforseen has come up and I can't make it tomorrow. Please give my spot to one of the 5 people waiting.

Merlin, Parkopedia link for CIC (1 Broadway) follows. I'm not sure if it's exactly right, but it's definitely close: http://en.parkopedia.com/parking/garage/one_broadway_garage/02142/cambridge/

Basically, we have one room at CIC - a conference room that comfortably fits around 15 people. Up until last week when we moved from Meetup Everywhere to Meetup.com, we generally only had between 5-10 people attending on a regular basis, so it wasn't an issue.

Since this will be the second week in a row with max capacity and a waiting list, I'll see about getting a larger / second room so we can open up more spots. Thanks for hanging in there - we want to accommodate everyone we can, but we've had a massive influx of new faces and we're still trying to figure it out. I'll keep you all posted!
