What we're about

Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? Code for Long Island is here to help! We are designers, developers, and product managers, both experts and learners, coming together to make our island better for everyone. We welcome all skill levels and disciplines - no coding experience is necessary.

Code for Long Island is a Code for America Brigade, or local chapter, focused on improving the lives of residents of Long Island. Code for Long Island is made up of individuals who are interested in changing Long Island for the better. We work with local government to fix local services, utilize open data to improve citizen knowledge, and work for the betterment of all. We are just getting started, so there are plenty of opportunities to use your skills. Even if you are not a tech type, we can still have opportunities for you to contribute. So come by and become part of a movement to improve our community!

Code for Long Island Meeting

Online event

Hi All,

We're a dedicated group of individuals that are looking to make a different in the world, by starting with our local area.

Coding, Project Management, Designing - these are only a few of the skills that will help our group become an unstoppable force in the Long Island area.

Come join us during our monthly meetings (3rd Tuesday at 7pm EST) to review projects we're working on, what groups we're reaching out to, and to develop skills you've been meaning to put more time into.

Together, we can achieve great things.

We connect via Google Hangouts for our meetings. Also, we have a slack channel that we like to communicate with. It makes it a bit easier to pass notes to everyone.

If you're interested in learning more, please email me directly at [masked].
