NoVA National Day of Civic Hacking

To Attend the Event You Must Register on Eventbrite here: National Day of Civic Hacking Registration

The National Science Foundation and Code for America's Northern Virginia Brigade are teaming up again to host our second National Day of Civic Hacking, a one day event May 31, 2014 from 8am till 9pm, with a pre-event social hour on Friday night, May 30.

Come join other civic engaged residents and technology enthusiasts - from industry, non-profit, government and education sectors - as we create exciting new civic-based applications, or further develop existing civic-based applications.

You'll have the exciting opportunity to work with national data sets from the National Science Foundation and local datasets and applications from the City of Alexandria and Arlington County. You can also win one of a kind prizes from the NSF, and other cool techie toys from our sponsors.

Prizes and agenda to be announced soon!

Having seen a little of the agenda, I see that the Alexandria QOLI project is listed... has someone stepped forward to present that project? I only ask because, of late, there's been no coordination, I feel like I'm the only one poking at it, and even then only occasionally at that.

Hello everyone - apparently parking is no longer just $1 at the Ballston parking garage on the weekends - does anyone know where the cheapest parking is near the NSF for Saturday?

It looks like I'm going to have to be a reluctant maybe in order to deal with some teen daughter issues.

Is it ok to attend part of the day but not the entire thing?

Absolutely! But in order to be eligible for a prize, you'll have to present what you're working on that evening.

We'll be e-mailing all registered participants links to the challenges and data sets in the days leading up to the event. The Happy Hour would be a great place for people to link up with each other on potential projects they would want to work on.

Can people post their projects and links to them? That would just be the bee's knees.

I have never done this, but I thought we would be given assignments or shown what projects they'd like us to work on. Can anyone offer some clarification?
