What are you interested in learning or hacking on?

Bringing the Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop tonight. Matt said he might help get Linux Mint Debian (for Athlon AMD64) running on it. Have a 15 ft Cat5e cable, mouse, and a 256gb Crucial SSD (it currently has an 80gb Hitachi HDD. Last effort was with LMDE[masked], 32 bit. Per Matt's suggestion, found two AMD-focused zip files, but have not yet been able to unpack the ISO files and use Unetbootin to create bootable USB flash drives. The files are: (1) cinnamon_1.8.8+lmde_amd64.deb, and (2) cinnamon_1.8.8+olivia_amd64.deb. I attached the files to emails that we could pull down from the web on someone else's laptop.

Came last week. Science and energy background. Linux enthusiast.
