Code & Coffee - Civic Hack Session
Ready to Code for Buffalo? This Code & Coffee meetup offers designated time for project teams to get together in-person and get some real work done. There's no formal agenda for these meetups unlike our Civic Innovation Nights. Come join the movement using technology for a better Buffalo! New to Code for Buffalo? We recommend first attending one of our monthly Civic Innovation Nights and checking out our Projects page to see how and where you can help (https://github.com/CodeForBuffalo/project-ideas). You can even create a brand new project! If you're ready to jump in, feel free to stop by! Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) • What do I need to know before showing up? Don’t forget your computer! Code for Buffalo does not currently provide any devices, so if you need your computer to work be sure to bring it with you. This is a free form hack session designed for project teams to concentrate on hitting milestones, so please be considerate if you see a group in deep conversation. We won’t necessarily plan on having any orientation session (dependent on captain availability) • Who is this event for? This event is for teams to work on their civic tech projects. • Do I need to be a coder? No! We need civic hackers of all varieties. Healthy civic tech projects have developers, designers, community partners, project managers/owners, and need lots of help. If you’re an experienced professional, we welcome you to contribute your expertise whatever it looks like. • How else can I get involved? => Help us get to know you with this Getting Involved form (https://goo.gl/forms/wfWaDwOluEeZvKKr1) => Explore our website (https://codeforbuffalo.org/)and sign up for our email list (http://eepurl.com/dA-KWL) => Follow us on Twitter & Facebook @CodeForBuffalo (https://twitter.com/codeforbuffalo) => Join the conversation on Slack (https://join.slack.com/t/codeforbuffalo/shared_invite/enQtMzk5NzA5MjA4NTQ0LWNlY2UyOWJlZWUxMjQ0NTE1M2RlOWNjNDcyNzkwZmYxNDY4MDE5ZGNhZjNhOWY4MWU2OWRhNGMzNzUwMmEzMTk)and our Facebook group Buffalo Open Data Community (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1312675832188711/) => Get inspired by some of the Code for America Summit videos sessions with amazing speakers (https://www.youtube.com/user/CodeforAmerica/playlists) ================= ***Attendance implies consent to our Code of Conduct*** (https://github.com/codeforamerica/codeofconduct). ================= Have fun and do good!

    What we're about

As a newly formed Code for America Brigade (http://brigade.codeforamerica.org/), we're part of a national network of civic-minded volunteers using technology for the public good. We team up with local government and the Buffalo community by using the practices of the internet age to expand access to digital skills, enhance public services and quality of life, and deepen civic engagement. You can get involved no matter what your skill level or experience because we're about far more than just coding.

Code for Buffalo is a community working together to build a better Buffalo for everyone. That means we need everyone: community leaders and coders, subject-matter experts and project managers, activists and designers, data geeks and policy wonks, public servants and curious residents.
