Jess Szmajda will be joining us to talk about making art with computers and showing art from what's known as the Demoscene. What people do in the Demoscene is unbelievable so you definitely don't want to miss seeing her presentation.
After the presentation, join us for some more coding with friends using Scratch, Twine, Raspberry Pi and more. Everyone will have a chance to demo their projects at the end of the meeting.
If you're a high school student, feel free to bring a project that you've been working on or give a short intro to a technology that you've been using. We always can use mentors, so if you're a software engineer, electronics guru or you just want to help kids learn how to code, contact us about helping out at our meetings.
Bringing a laptop is recommended, but not required for the second half of the meeting.
Important: Ages 7 to 17 are welcome, but children 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entire meeting. Bringing a friend or two is fine, but please, no large groups.
Parking: If you're not familiar with Rockville Town Square, please familiarize yourself with the parking options at http://rockvilleparking.com/. The library validates parking for 2 hours if you use the city lots. Since our meetings are slightly longer than 2 hours, you'll have to pay a couple dollars. Another option is to use street parking or the 11 N Washington St lot which are both free.
Metro: If you are coming by metro, exit the station to the left and take the pedestrian bridge over Rockville Pike. Walk straight for block after the bridge and make a right to get to town square.
