This session will revolve around an overview of the Amazon Web Services we'll be using to build our nifty recipe app. We'll also talk about the architecture of the app itself, and how AWS fits into web development.
Specifically, we will be diving into the following services: S3, Route 53, DynamoDB, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch. If these names seem overwhelming, don't worry about it. The concepts are fairly straightforward, and we will be going into detail on each of these individually as we develop the app, in addition to this session's overview.
This session will not involve writing any code. We may look at some code samples, but feel free to bring your laptop along anyway if you want to follow along as I navigate the AWS console. If you do want to follow along, and you don't already have an AWS account, please create one by following these instructions: https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/create-and-activate-aws-account/
You may be wondering "why a recipe app"? Well, because it's a simple and relatable concept, but still involves some interesting development challenges.
In the event that seats fill up, but you are still interested in coming, please stop by anyway or at least let me know. We may be able to access a larger room in the future, but we need to know if that is actually necessary first.
