SHOUT! - Poetry Open Mic

Come share your poetic voice and talents in a great locale in Uptown Whittier every 2nd Wednesday night of the month.

The location is Half Off Books (formerly the Little Old Bookstore), and SHOUT! is hosted by Eric Morago.

Eric is a 2010 Pushcart Prize nominee and holds an MFA from California State University, Long Beach. He believes performance carries as much importance on the page as it does off. He has performed all over California and in New York, has been a member of and has coached poetry slam teams galore, and hosts SHOUT! the open mic in Uptown Whittier at Half Off Books.

SHOUT! is a recurring poetry open mic that takes place the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm. A free event, and has developed quite a following, so get there early to ensure you read before 9:30pm, unless you want to be one of those moonlight poets that helps shut the spot down around 12pm. Also, due to the occurrence of the Uptown Street Fair from April-Oct, parking will be difficult, but not impossible.

Hope to see you there!

Wow! What a wonderful opportunity to hear poetry and be heard! :)

    2 questions:

    1) What is the time allowed per reader? 5 minutes?

    2) My inner GPS is set the wrong way. Is there a kindly soul who will be attending and can give me his/her number to call in case I (inevitably) get lost?

    Thank you !

Hello Winnie, Christopher means well, however sometimes, like now, he gets a little befuddled. My correct ph#[masked]-7954. The person at the other phone number might know how to get there as well but since he mentioned my name, I thought it only right to give you my number. It's a great venue with positive energy and good spirits. They also have great prices on books, including my little Halloween chap book Ichabod's Revenge. Bring a friend, hope to see you there.
