To do our part in Global Sharing Day (http://www.compareandshare.com/thepeoplewhoshare/global-sharing-day/), we, in collaboration with Let's Collaborate (http://signup.letscollaboratenyc.com/), are running a "pop up library", out of the lobby at AlleyNYC (https://twitter.com/AlleyNYC).
Come to the Lobby of AlleyNYC to borrow or lend something (http://bitly.com/lend_sharedsquared), and learn more about local sharing startups ANY TIME from 1-5pm. (you must RSVP to get in:)
Some great stuff to borrow, free if you show up
the proverbial drill (of course) thank you Meetup.com (http://meetup.com) food processor thank you http://Yipit.com a router thanks Rob from spacesplitter.com (https://www.spacesplitter.com/) a special item from renttherunway (http://www.renttherunway.com/) fancy clothes - thanks Melissa from letscollaborate (http://signup.letscollaboratenyc.com/) 2 Yamaha full size keyboards (unlikely that we have two) A kindle -- YUP! An iPad (not a new one) An iPad2 (update- just added:) A steam cleaner... Sort of like a swap meet, anyone will be able to come to our library and check something out, completely free. Due dates will range from 2 days to 2 weeks. Your library card will be a post on twitter or FB, along with a photo of your ID for items over $100 in value.
If you are interested in seeding some of the stuff that will be lent out during the day, please let us know... here http://bit.ly/lend_sharedsquared . Any item lent to us will be insured up to $250. Your motivation, beyond saving the world and participating in a unique social experiment... is to save some room in your home, help out a neighbor who needs something you have - and after the drive and the first round of returns... these items will be available for a fee, which goes to you:).
To celebrate Global Sharing Day over drink, join Let's Collaborate! and other collaborative consumption enthusiasts at Broome Street Bar in Soho at 6pm. The address is 363 West Broadway.
"Global Sharing Day is a big public engagement campaign,
delivered through mass communications to shine a spotlight on sharing and the Sharing Economy. It is an opportunity to raise the media profile of sharing and put sharing on the agenda. We are looking to inspire and catalyse events both online and onland (in the community), ranging from clothes swaps, to street shares. We want to raise the profile of the myriad of sharing services
and Collaborative Consumption businesses around the world; the mission is to make sharing mainstream, showing that sharing is fun, easy and value for money, demonstrating that we live better together."
