New Meetup: Elk Meadows Loop Hike - Evergreen

From: Rick
Sent on: Monday, June 29, 2009 4:23 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for Colorado Dog Friends Adventure Group!

What: Elk Meadows Loop Hike - Evergreen

When: July 12,[masked]:00 AM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Meetup Place: Elk Meadows trailhead parking lot off of Stagecoach Blvd
NOTE: This is not the same as the trailhead off Lewis Ridge Road.

Hike Description:
The Elk Meadows Loop is located near Evergreen, inside the Elk Meadows open space. The hike is about 5 miles, with only a slight elevation gain of about 300 feet. It is an easy to moderate hike with an average grade of 3% thru a mix of meadows and pines.

Remember, we will be starting at the upper trail head, off of Stagecoach Boulevard. Stagecoach Boulevard intersects with Evergreen Parkway about 2 miles north of Evergreen and about 4 miles south of Bergen Park. There is a closed Albertson's store on the Northwest corner of the intersection. Go west on Stagecoach for about 1.5 miles to the trail head parking lot. Meet by the maps, signs, etc at the trail head. Plan for a 9am meet time to get a head start on the heat for us and our dogs.

Dogs are required to be on leash, but there is an excellent off leash dog park just across the road from the trail head parking lot for those dogs with extra energy remaining after the hike.
