Children 5 – 8 years old are invited to join sister Ayya for 30 minutes on Saturday mornings, beginning October 29th, from 9:30 to 10 am. The focus of this class will mainly be on body awareness through mindful movement and breath awareness with short periods of meditation. Age appropriate activities and stories will be used to illustrate how mindfulness can be brought into daily life experience.
Classes will run for 6 weeks on Saturday mornings with a 1-week break for Thanksgiving, ending December 10th.
Please sign-up online by October 17th if your child plans to participate. Tuition is by donation.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the development of awareness in relation to our bodies, emotions, and thoughts. With mindfulness, we can increase our ability to respond appropriately in any given situation.
Benefits of mindfulness for children:
• Mindful children experience less stress, anxiety and sadness, are better able to cope with change and other stressors.
• Mindful children have more confidence in themselves and their decisions and tend to perform better academically
• Mindful children are better able to focus and concentrate, are more resilient and are all around happier and more content
