What do you write?

I write speculative fiction, some contemporary, some historical, and some near future. My work tends to fall in the "set in the real world" category with either a sci fi, paranormal or mythica twist. I'm particularly fond of ghosts, kitsunes and valkyries and have a penchant for setting my stories in non US locations based on my travels. I have seven short stories published, including a writing contest win, with another under contract. I have a (flawed) novel in a shoe box, which I used as a vehicle to add to my rejection notice collection and a new novel at the first round of edits phase, which hopefully will be better. I do a lot on read and critiques with fellow writers, help judge an amateur on-line writing contest, and like many writers I find I can spot issues in other writers works much easier than in my own.

Who are your favorite authors?

I just finished trudging through George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire set, which is magnificent, and I still need to read the last book of Larsson's Girl series (I lived in Sweden for a few years so I am quite fond of the style). I'm not much on literary fiction and tend to the usual suspects of thrillers and best sellers with a smattering of Sci Fi and Fantasy to help feed my writing. I read a lot when I travel; much less at home; and frankly since I started writing I find reading less enjoyable.

Introduction

I run a product design company by day and write, well, when I get the chance. I have a few short stories published, a novel in a shoe box and a (better) novel in the works.
