Colorado Springs Vegan Events Message Board › Waste Connections teamed with Recycle Bank to offer clients incentive points
My Aunt was telling me about this program yesterday. Here's an article explaining how it works -
Excerpt from article:
"The recycling carts include an ID tag that matches the cart to the household address and account number. Waste Connections trucks, retrofitted with special technology, track recycling activity, and the amount recycled is converted into RecycleBank Points. Similar to frequent flier programs, the more a family recycles, the more RecycleBank Points each household earns.
RecycleBank Points are redeemable for rewards, gift cards, groceries and products from national reward partners such as Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Dick's Sporting Goods, CVS/pharmacy, and Bed, Bath & Beyond, as well as from a host of local participating businesses in more than 20 categories that include food and grocery, sports and recreation, entertainment, restaurants, health and beauty. There is also an option to donate Points to local school environmental programs and to non-profit organizations."
It would be great to be able to donate points to the Humane Society, an Animal Sanctuary, our group (to put on a meetup, etc.), and so on.
Or maybe the points could be put to good use within your household.
Here's a link to Recycle Bank and to Wast Connections. If you are interested, call Waste Connections.
Anyone already take part in this program?

Wow, what a cool program. We use a different company for our trash and recycling, but I guess it would be worth checking to see how the prices compare...
