Local Chapters

LOCAL CHAPTERS
**************
Local Chapters are our way of building a truly grassroots organization across the state. They are the way to use our resources and organization to build a local network among friends, family, and neighbors, to get in touch with elected officials in your area and to get the message out about what we are fighting for and why.

Local Chapters can hold meetups, conduct outreach campaigns, and in general do what our group overall does, in their area but without having to start a new organization from scratch. Get an event going in your area and we'll post it right here!

We HIGHLY encourage people to start a chapter in their area, and let us know about it.

If you see a group listed in your area, and want to join, send an email to either the contact person below, or two the main email at ColoradoTeaParty@live.com

If you are starting, or are interested in starting, a chapter, please read GUIDELINES FOR LOCAL CHAPTERS at the bottom of this page!

PLEASE NOTE THIS PAGE, AND THE CHAPTER STRUCTURE, ARE LONG OVERDUE FOR AN UPDATE. ALL EXISTING CHAPTERS WILL BE CONTACTED TO VERIFY ACTIVE STATUS. IF YOU ARE LISTED AS A CHAPTER HEAD HERE AND WANT TO CONTINUE TO BE AFFILIATED WITH CTP, PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

GUIDELINES FOR LOCAL CHAPTERS

(1) Check to be sure there isn't already a chapter in your area. Chapters are best done by neighborhood in the Denver metro area, and by town or county outside of it. Look on the "Local Chapters" page on our Meetup.com site, under the "About" section. If you aren't sure, it is a good idea to ask.

(2) Send me an email to ColoradoTeaParty@live.com with the email address you want to use as your contact address, your name as you want it to appear, and your Meetup.com PROFILE NAME exactly as it appears on your profile - the reason is that Meetup allows multiple profiles with the same name because it uses ID#s to distinguish them, however the profile name is still important for us humans.

(3) We will then set you up as a contact person on the "Local Chapters" page under "About" on the Colorado Tea Party Meetup.com site, and unless you already have some other title, We'll add the coordinator title to your profile for our group.

(4) We'll then send out an email to the members of the Colorado Tea Party Meetup.com group letting them know the new chapter is starting.

(5) You should then get your first event scheduled, and send an email to ColoradoTeaParty@live.com with the name of the place and the event, and the exact address, date, and time it is taking place. I'll then add it as an event here on the Meetup site, on Facebook, and (when it is up and running) our Ning.com site

(6) Don't set up a separate website for your group without clearing it with the State Coordinator (Anthony Gillis)! This is key if we are going to maintain a unified identity as a group and work together effectively. For the time being, I won't be OK'ing any new sites until we have the statewide Colorado Tea Party site set up on ning.com, and even after that, if we do so, it will be only with each site having a clear look and description that identifies it as part of Colorado Tea Party.

(7) As you sign up new members in your area, it is best that they set up profiles on Meetup.com and become members of the Colorado Tea Party group. Going forward we'll be able to use Ning.com as well - announcements will come out as events develop. If they can't or don't want to do so, you will still need to forward their names and email addresses to coloradoteaparty@live.com. We have no way of knowing who is or who is not a member, or of getting a unified email list together, if we don't have the info!
