Tuesday - October[masked] Meeting begins at 7:00 pm NOTICE: Some members meet for a pre-meeting snack at Yesterday’s in Five Points at 5:00 p.m. THIS MONTH'S CLUB MEETING WILL FEATURE: Follow Your Own Path by MARY PRESTON ROBERTS Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by images. Technology has made it possible for more and more people to become photographers. With so many images and so many people taking pictures, it is more important than ever to make images that stand out. In this presentation, Mary will share what she has learned on her path with photography. She will include things that are needed (in addition to gear), ways to approach a new subject, steps you can take to continue to grow as a photographer, and how to produce creative work that will stand out in a crowd. In sharing steps taken on her path, she hopes to inspire others to make the next steps on their photographic journeys. Mary Presson Roberts is an award winning fine art photographer living and working in the Carolinas. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC and her Masters in School Administration from The Citadel, Charleston, SC. Mary has been an educator for thirty-one years and is a published author in the field of education. Ten years ago, Mary began really exploring the world through photography. Photography completely transformed her life. It allowed her to go to places she never would have experienced and meet people she never would have met. It added a whole, new dimen- sion to her life. Mary is thrilled to now have the opportunity to combine her two passions: teaching and photography as she shares with other photographers by speaking, leading photo tours and photography workshops. Follow Your Own Path. ______________________________ NEW SHOW'N'TELL INSTRUCTIONS 2018: Submit three images on a flash drive (IN A SUBDIRECTORY FOLDER NAMED WITH THE MEMBER'S NAME) with files resized to 2500 pixels on longest side. Tuesday - August 7, 2018 Meeting begins at 7:00 pm NOTICE: Some members meet for a pre-meeting snack at Yesterday’s in Five Points at 5:00 p.m. THIS MONTH'S CLUB MEETING WILL FEATURE: Tips on Street Photography by LORRAINE SHANNON "I use photography as a creative outlet. Diving back into the art twelve years ago, it has brought an added joy to my life. Meeting others who also enjoy photography, attending outings with photography clubs, learning from professionals in the industry, and paging through printed and online material have all contributed to my knowledge of the subject. I find it rewarding to capture images not often seen. I’m amazed at what life has to offer if we just take time to look, and feel fortunate to be able to share with others the things I see. I like to photograph a variety of subjects including old stuff, dogs, cars and urban decay, and enjoy street photography, macro photography and portraiture. I’m the President of Charlotte Camera Club and a member of several other photography organizations. I am the recipient of two Awards of Merit from the Photographic Society of America’s (PSA) Interclub Competition. In addition, I have been a BetterPhoto.com finalist on numerous occasions, a few of my photos have been featured as the BetterPhoto.com ‘Photo of the Day’, and one of my images was awarded 2nd place by BetterPhoto.com. My image, “Luminescence”, was awarded “2015 Photo of the Year” by Charlotte Camera Club. I’ve been a presenter at several camera clubs and Western North Carolina FotoFest." www.lorraineshannon.com ______________________________ NEW SHOW'N'TELL INSTRUCTIONS 2018: Submit three images on a flash drive (IN A SUBDIRECTORY FOLDER NAMED WITH THE MEMBER'S NAME) with files resized to 2500 pixels on longest side.
