Inaugural Columbus Cloud Foundry Meetup

Welcome to the first Cloud Foundry Meetup in Columbus, Ohio!

Please join us for the first of many Meetups where we will be covering a wide and varied topic list associated with Cloud Foundry.

To start the new year, we are going to talk about the fundamentals of Cloud Foundry - how to use it and how it works. This will be a great session for everybody who is new to Cloud Foundry or who wants to get more out of their usage of Cloud Foundry.

Agenda:

5:30 - 6:00 Food and socializing

6:00 - 6:10 Cardinal Health Fuse mission introduction

6:10 - 6:40 Cloud Foundry - An extensive demo

Casey is going to introduce Cloud Foundry and demonstrate the rich feature set in the platform.

6:40 - 7:10 Cloud Foundry - How does the magic work

Aaron and Casey will provide a guided tour to the internals of Cloud Foundry which make the magic work. For example, we will see how Cloud Foundry keeps your application up and running and how it ensures that your application is running in a secure and safe environment.

7:10 - 7:30 Extending Cloud Foundry

While Cloud Foundry tries to meet most developers needs, there are sometimes specific use cases that require a change to Cloud Foundry. Casey will show how a few of these work and when and where to use them.

Speaker Bios:

Casey West - Working in Internet infrastructure, web app security, and design taught Casey to be a paranoid, UX-oriented, problem solving Internet plumber; his earliest contributions to Perl live to this day on your Mac. Casey’s speaking and writing ranges from open source communities and culture to technical architecture and automation tips and tricks. Casey West wears the mantle of Principal Technologist focused on Pivotal’s Cloud Foundry Platform and lives in Pittsburgh raising three sarcastic children.

Aaron Fortener is a Senior Platform Architect at Pivotal where he supports some of the largest Cloud Foundry deployments.  Aaron brings a broad background in both infrastructure and development strategies.  Prior to that Aaron was with IBM for over six years specializing in developer process and delivery.
