Join us on Thursday, June 26th for a special Foreign Film Thursday as we get together to watch the fabulous Polish film: IDA! Set in Poland in 1962, Ida follows an eighteen-year-old novitiate nun on the verge of taking her vows who discovers a dark family secret dating back to the years of the Nazi occupation. Ida is already the winner of over 15 International Film Festival awards, including The London Film Festival (Best Film) and the Toronto Film Festival (International Critics Award).Here are the details and plan for this event:

DESCRIPTION: Set in 1962 Poland, an orphan is brought up by nuns in a convent. Before she takes her vows, she longs to see her only living relative. When she learns of her Jewish roots, both women start a journey not only to find their family's tragic story, but to see who they really are and where they belong. The film is directed by Pawel Pawlikowski and stars Agata Trzebuchowska.

Ida has earned a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which describes the film as, “Empathetically written, splendidly acted, and beautifully photographed, Ida finds director Pawel Pawlikowski revisiting his roots to powerful effect.”
