April 30 - Experimenting with Lighting with Maggie

The model for this shoot will by Maggie Doyle. She will bring a party dress and some lingerie. I have shot with Maggie in the past, and she is a wonderful model.

The difference in this shoot will be the focus on lighting instead of shooting. In many of the 2 hour shoots that I have done, we do at most 3 lighting changes. The majority of the time was spent shooting. In this meetup, we will spend much more time setting up and discussing light, and much less time shooting you will get about 5 shots per lighting setup. Shooting will be 20% of the time instead of the usual 80%. This shoot should give you some good experience in studio A lighting, and give you before and after shots as we add lights to different setups.

You will go through the following lighting setups: 4 light on the seamless

1 light loop (key only) 2 light loop (key and fill) 3 light loop (key, fill and rim)

1 light Rembrandt (key only) 2 light Rembrandt (key and fill) 3 light Rembrandt (key, fill and rim)

2 light split 3 light split (with rim)

1 light butterfly (with reflector)

It looks like a lot, but some are similar. I think you will like the way we build these setups and seeing the before and afters.

If you are comfortable setting up your own lights for effects that you want to get, then this is not for you. If you wonder why folks make lighting decisions they do, then this is for you. I will not be shooting.
