The Invisible Vegan is a 90-minute independent documentary that explores the problem of unhealthy dietary patterns in the African-American community, foregrounding the health and wellness possibilities enabled by plant-based vegan diets and lifestyle choices. The documentary begins with the personal story of Jasmine Leyva, a 30-year-old black actress and filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles. Over the past seven years, Leyva has committed herself to veganism, both in lifestyle and research. At the screening there is FREE admission, FREE food (including mouthwatering samples from local vegan gems Can't Believe It's Vegan, Berry Vegan Delights and The Bella Goat Bakert), FREE unlimited popcorn, and a FREE raffle where you get a raffle ticket just for attending that you can use to win gift certificates, dessert samplers, and more! Please plan to arrive at 2pm to get free food, get a raffle ticket, and find a seat. The film will start promptly at 2:15pm. No minimum age requirements. There are very brief clips depicting modern animal agriculture practices that may be disturbing for young children. 2) What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is free street parking available on Indianola Ave as well as the residential streets nearby. Additionally, the COTA bus can be utilized on Sundays and there is a #4 stop infront of the theatre. If you aren't familiar with public transit you are able to use Google Maps to see directions. There will be free food sample from Can't Believe It's Vegan, Berry Vegan Delights, and The Bella Goat Bakery! There will also be unlimited popcorn for attendees from Studio 35. Come out for a laid-back super casual playdate at the Whetstone playground on Sunday July 7th from 10am-12pm where both kids and parents alike can make new friends! The playground is right outside of the Whetstone Rec Center and library. Feel free to come for as much or little time as you’d like! The Whetstone rec center & library are right next to the playground so if you need a break there are indoor kid-friendly spaces nearby! Vegan-themed stickers will be provided for kids to wear and there will be vegan-themed coloring pages for kids to take home!     Leaflet with Mercy For Animals as we promote justice for all at Columbus Pride Festival—sure to be one of the most exciting, colorful, and boisterous events of the year! We will distribute literature about factory farming and veg eating to the thousands of people who will take to the streets to celebrate. :-) Join us for the fun and show your support for animal protection and justice! And let’s see how much rainbow gear you can sport! Please make sure to bring water, sunscreen, and a hat, as it will probably be a hot day. 🐷 An RSVP is required to leaflet with MFA so we know how many booklets to bring. Then this meetup is for you! :-D Come join seasoned activists from the Columbus Veg Community (CVC) and learn more about the CVC’s approach to activism, tips for new activists, and upcoming opportunities to help animals :-) • What to bring Paper and pen if you're a note taker.     • What we'll do This event is open and welcoming to anyone who would like to join in eating vegan food for the afternoon regardless of your normal diet! ~*~*~*~*~*~ ~*~*~*~*~*~ The Potluck (Cookbook Club) is food-allergy-conscious in order to keep everyone at the event safe. Please come to the potluck knowing if there are allergens in your contribution: Tree Nuts, Wheat, or Soy. Please DO NOT BRING DISHES CONTAINING PEANUTS. Each dish will have a label that indicates if it contains tree nuts, soy or wheat so our friends with food allergies know what they can, and cannot, safely eat. Thank you in advance for your consideration regarding food allergies! :-) Kid's Zone: We are proud to have vegan storybook time at Vegan Potlucks! Face painting, coloring pages and stickers are also available in the kid’s zone! Please contact the CVC if you have additional ideas for how this event can be more kid friendly :-) • What to bring Please bring some delicious **vegan food to share with the other attendees. If cooking isn't your jam, feel free to bring something store-bought to share :-) **All foods at this meetup must be vegan and peanut-free please. Please ensure your dish does not contain: peanuts, dairy, egg, gelatin, honey, or meat. Plates, napkins, cups, drinks and silverware will be provided. Feel free to bring your own reusable plate, cup and utensils from home as well. :-D • Important to know 1) Please bring only *Peanut-Free* dishes! No peanuts or peanut butter as ingredients for the safety of attendees with food allergies. 2) Please know the ingredients of your dish. Allergens we ask you to clearly mark on your dish are wheat, soy, and tree nuts. It's okay to bring dishes with these ingredients! Let's just be sure to mark them clearly :-) 3) Paper plates and plastic forks will be provided. If you are bringing a dish that requires bowls/spoons please bring bowls/spoons along with your dish. 4) Feel free to bring your own plates/forks from home for a more eco-friendly event! 5) Please only take small samples of each dish at first until you are sure you like the foods (then comes back for seconds!). With over 100 people at the last potluck we want to make sure all of the food gets eaten and none is thrown away which commonly happens when we accidentally take larger portions than we will eat. In Madison's presentation she touches on how religion makes an impact in all areas of her life, including food. She believes that true compassion is vital to our entire ecosystem that Christ created for us and can’t wait to share her inspiring story with you. After the presentation there will be a Q&A session.
