The course is a BBQ 101 intro class designed for amateurs and backyard grilling enthusiasts who seek to learn the art of smoke-cooking. Focusing on the basics we will share equipment and cooking techniques layering in some pro tips where appropriate. Come hungry for a 3-course meal featuring competition brisket, pork and ribs with craft beer from Seventh Son Brewery. Round things out with a Q & A session. Join us!
About Velvet Smoke BBQ Team Velvet Smoke was formed during the spring of 2009 and is the brainchild of Marc “The Velvet Fog” Stitt. Marc’s growing love of creating “low & slow” bbq and a sincere desire to do it better (and smoke more meat) led him after significant research to the purchase of a Weber Smoky Mountain (WSM) cooker. Fellow foodie and willing accomplice Matt Schneider helped Marc christen the WSM and enjoy the results which far exceeded expectation. Needless to say they were hooked! After many more successful cooks with a variety of meats and accolades from friends and family a crazy idea emerged, entering a BBQ competition. With entry into a well known competition in southern Indiana secured and the purchase of a second WSM, Velvet Smoke was born. VS BBQ is available 6 days a week at historic Findlay Market in Cincinnati’s burgeoning Over The Rhine district (think thier North Market).
I just signed up for this bbq class at the North Market downtown for Sunday, April 13, 2014. I volunteered at Velvet Smoke's bbq class last year and had a blast. Good food and learned some cool tips on bbqing at home. Registration is now open and its only $50 which includes class, handouts, three-course meal and beer. Great value for the class.
