  • Columbus Komen "Thunder Tunnel"
One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Because every minute, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer. Because, breast cancer knows no boundaries- be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location. We continue to support the Race because at the current rate, 13 million breast cancer deaths around the world will occur in the next 25 years. Join me and hundreds of other riders to help encourage and motivate the participants of the Columbus Komen in the 2018 Thunder Tunnel. We will meet at the Lowe's parking lot at I-71 and Hudson at 7:30am with KSU by 8:00am for a group ride to Thunder Tunnel. Group breakfast buffet at the Big Boy by Lowe's after the event. If you enjoy riding with the CMR please consider supporting this MeetUp site by "Chipping In", click the link on the page. All support is greatly appreciated.

  • Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum - Weston, WV.
The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV. is the largest hand cut stone structure in the U.S. and second largest in the world. Treatment and care was especially cruel for the most seriously mentally ill patients in asylums through out history. During the 1950's, American physician Walter Freeman performed hundreds of lobotomies at this asylum by using a hammer to drive common household ice picks thru the eye sockets of patients. Many were transported by train to asylums in small wooden cages and treated like wild animals. The artwork on display here by patients deeply moved me with many thoughts of how they may have viewed their world. This will be a 355 +/- mile roundtrip all day ride from our launch point. Fair weather ride only. Ride will be rescheduled if steady / heavy rain is forecasted. Ride will be limited to 8 bikes for safety reasons & ride leader management. Each bike can include a saddle guest. Fuel stops/ butt breaks every 100 mile or so for those with small fuel tanks and / or active bladders like mine :-) I also plan on a dinner stop on the way back for those with time or that may want to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** Note** "No Shows" - If you have marked up & was a no show for any previous rides I have hosted and did not mark off, you may be automatically deleted from this ride as well as any future rides I host. • Ride to Rolling Thunder 2017
I'm starting to plan a trip to Washington D.C. for the 2017 Rolling Thunder rally, held on the Memorial Day weekend. If you're unfamiliar with the event, please Google it, to see if you'd like to participate in. I'll post more trip specifics, as the date gets closer... but I am reserving my room at the Marriott hotel on the Jefferson Davis Hwy in Crystal City, MD. This location is close to the Pentagon rally point, and also to the Metro rail station...for those wishing to check out the various monuments and memorials in the area. Please RSVP, so I can logistically manage the group(s) size for everyone's safety. I will be creating an event for this ride, on FB as well. Please join both, so no information is missed. I look forward to riding will all of you.
