Host a Vegetarian Exchange Student!

From: Dan

I was recently contacted by Mariele Ventrice, a student placement specialist for Youth For Understanding, USA. Youth for Understanding is one of the oldest and largest international exchange organizations in the country. Mariele asked that I reach out to our Vegetarian Group members about an opportunity to host a vegetarian exchange student from Qatar this summer. Information about the program, the youth, and contact info for anyone who may be interested can be found below:

Youth For Understanding, USA:  Youth For Understanding (YFU) is a non-profit international educational organization with programs in 64 countries. They are one of the world's oldest, largest, and most respected exchange organizations and have, “exemplified excellence in exchange worldwide since 1951.” They are currently looking for host families for the[masked] school year in Central Ohio. Host families come in all shapes and sizes and are from all sorts of backgrounds. A host family provides three meals a day, a bed, and encouragement and support to the exchange student throughout the 10-month academic year. Students come fully insured and with their own spending money.

Student Information:  The student’s name is Khesveny. "She is a 16-year-old girl from Qatar and is the winner of the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. She loves animals and enjoys singing, swimming, cycling, and playing badminton. Khesveny is a vegetarian, which often makes a student a bit more difficult to place. As a scholarship winner, Khesveny will be receiving a stipend to cover her personal living/entertainment costs. Families host on a volunteer basis, though they benefit immensely by gaining a life-long relationship with a young person from across the globe."

If you'd like to learn more about Khesveny, the YES scholarship, or hosting a student with YFU, please contact Mariele directly at [address removed]. She can send you any promotional or informational materials you'd like, including a full profile of Khesveny.

Take care,
