The Big Lebowski
Joel and Ethan Coen's shaggy dog detective story, The Big Lebowski, was an abysmal flop when it hit theaters in 1998. Since then, it has become a cult classic, spawning a religion (Dudeism), a moniker for its ardent fans ("Achievers"), and an annual international event ("Lebowski Fest," or "The Dude Abides" in the UK). Really, though, it's just a story of a simple man with simple tastes who gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity, leading to the demise of his favorite rug. This film is 1 hour, 57 minutes long. It is rated R for a ridiculous amount of profanity, plus lesser doses of nudity, violence, drug use, alcohol use, marmot abuse, and urination. Trailer here: Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, as well as Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse's website: The doors will open at 6:30pm. There will be an introduction of the film at around 7:15, and the film will start at 7:30. We can go out afterward for drinks and food if anyone's game. Be sure to kick back with a "Big Lebowski" (a White Russian, basically) from the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse's drink menu.
