Transforming Anger into Compassion
In this workshop we will explore an approach to healing anger that is taught by the Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Thich Nhat Hanh teaches that anger is not something that we can just cut out of our brain. Anger has to be transformed into a new energy. We will learn the practice of developing mindfulness energy, or presence, as we bring anger into awareness. This is very powerful in reducing the pain caused by the anger. We will then learn how we can look at the cause of the anger, and how we can transform our perceptions and energy from anger to compassion. In this workshop we will: 1) explore, experience, and know our true selves, our alert presence, that goes beyond ego. Some call this mindfulness energy. 2) explore and experience the energy of compassion and why is compassionate energy so powerful. 3) explore the energy of anger. What are the components of anger? What has to happen to move beyond anger? 4) experience a traditional Buddhist practice that incorporates mindful energy to transform anger into compassionate energy.
