The Completye Photographer: This Tuesday's meeting will NOT meet at Collin Creek Campus!

From: Guy H.

We will meet between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM in the parking lot on the SE corner of Archgate Dr and Legacy Drive about half way between Coit Rd & Preston Rd.   We are still paying for the room so the $5 fee would be nice.

I already know how to take these pictures.  I don't need to take any more if you need help.  I will be more than happy to help with any questions.  Just don't forget your camera manual!

What is required:

  1. Camera (duh)
  2. An empty memory card or two
  3. Two charged batteries (one spare)
  4. Tripod
  5. The manual for your camera
The tripod is required because we want to use the lowest ISO possible.  An ISO in the 100 to 400 range is good for most current cameras.  This means we will have exposures of 30 seconds or more.

What would be nice but not necessary:

  1. Remote shutter release to minimize camera vibration (the 2 second delay timer can be used also)
  2. A wide angle lens in the 16 to 24 mm full frame equivalent.  If a wide angle lens is not available then we can stitch two or more images to make a panorama.  Good panoramas can give even higher resolution than the best wide angle lens.
  3. f/2.8 lens or faster to minimize the exposure time.
  4. An auto exposure bracketing feature on your camera.  We will likely need more than three pictures to capture all the highlight and shadow details but being able to punch out two sets of three brackets makes it go faster.

The manual for your camera is necessary if you need help.  Some of the settings on our cameras are obscure.  A manual makes all the difference!

Thanks . . . Guy
