In the world of complex products, the overlap between the role of a Product Manager and UXer has always been a bit of an interesting one. How much input into the user experience should a PM have? And how much voice should a UXer have in shaping product direction?
We’ll be discussing where the roles cross over, where the tensions are and how high-performing teams are connecting UX, Engineering and Product to deliver great experiences for users.
We’ll hear from speakers who have made the switch from UX Design to Product Management, and from a developer working in a cross-functional team to unlock the user experience of a complex product.
PRIVITAR will be hosting us at their offices on London’s Southbank – join us for an evening of complexity-wrangling discussion!

THOMAS WILSON
Privitar
Thomas Wilson is a front-end developer at Privitar, a London startup which creates software to help organisations extract value from data whilst preserving privacy. This is a new and complex problem area, where good design can make all the difference to a user understanding their actions.
Thomas will share his insights on taking a product from a demo web application to a first version which could be used by customers. Working in a small multi-disciplinary team of product, research and dev, they had to first develop a solid understanding of emergent ideas around productising differential privacy, then translate this to clear visual concepts and workflows for the end-user.
