This group is for anyone looking to improve their communication and leadership skills. A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure. Members learn communication skills by working in the Competent Communication manual, a series of 10 self-paced speaking assignments designed to instill a basic foundation in public speaking.
Meetings will be conducted via Zoom and will begin at 7pm until further notice.
Join us Tuesday evenings at 7:15pm to improve your public speaking skills and to learn to lead with confidence. We meet at the John Muir Medical Center, 2540 East Street, Concord Room 1, Concord CA 94520.
Learn by preparing and giving speeches and practicing the art of impromptu, extemporaneous speeches at the meeting during table topics.
We are a diverse group of working and retired professionals. Our members range in age from 20-something to 60-something. Despite our diversity, we all enjoy learning from each other and improving our communication and leadership skills. The environment is warm, receptive, supportive, and relaxed.
Plan to arrive by 7:00pm so that you have plenty of time to find parking, check-in, and get a good seat. Photo ID required for entry into the Medical Center. For more information, visit our website: http://confidencebuilders.toastmastersclubs.org/
