A Hello to Concord Area Humanist MeetUp group members

I have just learnt how to send all 57 of you an email. First I will give a little background. I am our CAH host for MeetUp activities; and Maria, who is more expert on web sites, is our manager. We are supported by an excellent Steering Committee who choose good topics and arrange speakers. Every meeting includes significant open discussion.

You are welcome if you wish to learn more about Humanism, are already steeped in it, or just like to engage in rational discussion on interesting topics.

CAH (Concord Area Humanists) started life at a meeting in Concord, MA, in January 2009. That year we had topical meetings, and ran a series of classes on "What is Humanism". We initiated our web site:, and grew our email list to over 100 members, by word of mouth, by advertising, and by interacting in a cooperative way with other Humanist groups surrounding our area. We acknowledge receiving much help and encouragement.

In fall of 2010 we increased our meetings to three per month, with different emphases, and built our email list to about 150. We also discovered the merits of

By spring of 2011 we were doing most of our publicity through our CAH Email List that had grown to about 200 members, and were increasing our presence on MeetUp. We also affiliated with both the AHA and the HUUmanists, to strengthen our common Humanist voice.

Now in the fall of 2011, we have about 220 on our CAH Email List, and 57 in our MeetUp group. We are enjoying attendees from both sources and from listings in the published media. We find two meetings per month are more manageable.

You may have noticed our RSVPs through MeetUp are increasing, and we hope this trend will continue. You will realize we have many more coming than RSVP through MeetUp. We look forward to interesting you further in our program, and having more of you come to our meetings, to hear interesting speakers and engage in good rational discussion.

We invite you especially to our Wed Nov 2 meeting featuring Dr Jane Berstein who will give a fascinating talk on "Humanism and the Brain", fully described on our CAH page. Social will start at 7 PM, and program at 7:30 PM in the historic red Wright Tavern in Concord Center. It is situated close to the flagpole where Main Street and Lexington road meet.

If you would like to be invited onto our direct Google CAH Email List, please email and, with "SUBSCRIBE CAH" in the subject line, and "MeetUp" within the message.
