Over the course of the last year, over 30 groups from across the country have come together through the Movement for Black Lives Policy Table to form a united front and development a platform that intervenes in this political moment, advances a more radical Black centered policy vision, and addresses the systemic devaluing and destruction of Black lives.
The result is the newly released “Vision for Black Lives: Policy Demands for Black Power, Freedom & Justice, (https://policy.m4bl.org/)” a set of 40 comprehensive and visionary policy demands that extend beyond the police killing of Black people to reflect the Movement for Black Lives’ determination to address state violence that appears in many forms — from failing schools that criminalize our children to the poisoning of our water.
August will be a month of heightened activity around racial justice issues. Don’t miss this IPS brown bag discussion with dynamic leaders from this movement who will unpack the impending implications of the Vision for Black Lives agenda. This is sure to be a compelling event in the dawn of the 2016 election season.
