This new Nia class is great for beginners or seasoned dancers who wish to deepen their practice. It will focus on the 52 Moves of Nia, The Five Sensations (Flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability), The Five Stages of Healing and the Nine Movement Forms (Jazz, Modern Dance Duncan Dance, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Alexandar Technique, Yoga and The Work of Moshe Feldenkreis). It is the Basics of Nia; While dancing the 52 basic moves of Nia, choose sensation, increase, sustain, tweak as necessary.
The Mindfulness Center is Nia Central for the DC Area. They offer four classes per week and monthly Nia Experiential Workshops and Nia Jams. Come try Nia and you'll see why it's the most pleasurable way to workout.
Suzannah Weiss is a Black Belt Nia Teacher with a MEd degree and a background in strength training, yoga and theater arts.
