Content Strategist for Electronic Media, AdoptUSKids
AdoptUSKids is seeking a Content Strategist for Electronic Media to support our goals of:
• Raising public awareness of the need for foster care and adoptive parents for children in the public child welfare system; and
• Supporting U.S. States, Territories and Tribes in their efforts to recruit and retain foster care and adoptive parents and to connect them with children in foster care

This is a full-time position working with a dynamic, accomplished team of Electronic Media specialists at Northwest Resource Associates in Seattle who are, in turn, a partner in the collaboration of 5 child welfare organizations.

AdoptUSKids is a non-profit project supported solely by a cooperative agreement between the Children’s Bureau, Administration for Children & Families, the US Department of Health & Human Services, and the Adoption Exchange Association. AdoptUSKids collaborative partners include: University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work, Northwest Resource Associates, North American Council on Adoptable Children, and The Adoption Exchange Inc. The project is currently funded through September 2017.

Northwest Resource Associates is a multi-faceted non-profit agency that provides an array of services for the human services community. With six offices in three states, we have been successfully designing, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating programs since 1980. Our services are diversified, individualized, responsive and inclusive.

Content Strategist for Electronic Media
Responsibilities

• Work with nonprofit and government stakeholders of the AdoptUSKids project to manage the editorial process and production of all online content, including updating and creating new workflows for content production when needed

• Determine content structure and requirements for the website, inventory existing content, identify gaps, and evaluate possible sources for additional material

• Serve as the lead editor for all content, both online and offline, to ensure it adheres to AdoptUSKids style and voice (including best writing practices for the Web)

• Write, edit, and update website content on a regular basis, including overseeing the work of contract writers when needed

• Coordinate content development for monthly email campaigns and manage the lists of email subscribers

• Assist in the development of AdoptUSKids marketing and social media strategies to assure a consistently identifiable brand across the AdoptUSKids project

• Collaborate on overall UX strategy, including analytics reporting for the website and email campaigns
Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrate capacity to evaluate and recommend solutions for creating, enhancing, and organizing online information

• Strong skills for organizing a large volume of information to meet the end user’s needs
• Ability to analyze, strategize, and manage content
• Advanced knowledge of using bulk email service providers and list management tools
• Basic proficiency in HTML and CMS platforms
• An understanding of keywords and meta tags for search engine optimization
• Effective writing style that is fresh, consistent, and customer friendly
• Ability to deliver a consistent message suited to different platforms and audiences, and champion the use of plain language
• Proficient in AP style and English grammar
• Interest or experience in use of social media to expand a project’s mission
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to a changing work environment
• Team player with strong collaborative skills
• Ability to travel several times a year
