After a 1 year hiatus, the Continuous Delivery Sydney Meetup returns! Given this is the first in 1 year, there will likely be a lot of very interesting things to cover, as the world has changed significantly in this time. We will be working hard to ensure we make this Meetup a regular event, targeting the 3rd Wednesday of every second month. We have confirmed two presenters for this Septembers meetup, both with very interesting and relevant topics they will be covering. Looking forward to hearing them, and meeting those of you who can join us on the 19th. Microservices and Heroku: When developers actually manage ops Ian Tinsley (CTO Lux Group) talks about his experiences at Lux Group where cloud hosting with Heroku and a Microservices architecture helped enable his team to doContinuous Deployment without any dedicated Ops, Devops or QA staff. Automated testing in the age of Container clusters Manoj Kumar Kumar (Selenium Steering Committee member, Lead Technical Evangelist at Applitools) will demonstrate how to leverage the docker container technology to solve the challenges of implementing a reliable testing infrastructure with Selenium /Appium and other mobile testing tools. Doors open at 6 PM for registration, finger food and drinks. Two interesting presentations , first will start at 6:30 PM. 1) Alex Yu: Alex Yu from Deloitte DevOps team will talk about 'continuous delivery for serverless applications'. Serverless applications has several advantages against traditional ways of managing the infrastructure, for example It eliminates most of the overhead of managing traditional servers in the cloud, speed up application development Most of the serverless services adopted pay as you go model, which saves huge cost As more and more organizations are moving towards using serverless, it is quite important to get the ecosystem right including CI/CD. There are various tools already established to support CI/CD, this presentation would focus on how to build and test your serverless application before deploying as well as some best practice of building a serverless application. Followed by a short demo of integration testing using nodejs and docker, then deploy to AWS lambda. 2) Sriikandan Ramasamy: Srii is a Test Automation Engineer/Implementer in Sydney, he will be talking about "TestAutomation”. All, Doors open at 6 PM for registration, finger food and drinks. Two interesting presentations, details below, the first will start at 6:30 PM. "Not just a build and release pipeline." - Raphael Haddad Continuous delivery is supposed to increase productivity, efficiency and team work. However, what happens if it doesn’t? It starts with a short history of Agile, Lean and Six Sigma, presenting a timeline of the development of concepts such as incremental and iterative development, Servant Leader, Lean, Kanban, Kaizen and the Agile Enterprise.
