What we’re about
The Cork Street Photography Group was founded in March 2014 and, since then, has produced many fine street photographers who have made names for themselves nationally and internationally.
The Group is interested in all schools of street photography ('SP') but with a strong emphasis on Black and White photography. The aim of the group is to provide a sociable environment within which both experienced and new street photographers can come together to practice their art. We hope that together we can share our knowledge of cameras and photography and the philosophy of SP and its place in the world of art. We welcome photographers from both the digital and analogue traditions.
Members should have a serious interest in photography (whether as experienced or relative newbees) and be interested in developing their knowledge and skills in SP. We want to concentrate on the more serious aspects of the genre.
We hope to meet for photowalks, coffee and chat once a quarter and, if there is interest, to host a few workshops on SP skills and knowledge.
The Group would like to present an exhibition of its work towards the end of 2017 or early 2018 - but only if there is a sufficient body of excellent SP work to exhibit.
We are lucky to have service of a number of experienced organisers this year to support our activities.
