I've spent the last couple of days revamping the class so we can perform high quality molecular bio experiments. I've created a syllabus that can be found at https://counterculturelabs.org/?page_id=219
Within the syllabus is the course budget. That budget can be validated online if you desire. I would ask that if you decide to attend the class, that you pitch in with the cost of reagents.
You will also find the class dates and topics to be discussed with assigned reading materials. We will cover specific topics each class (Every other Tuesday starting March 4, 2014) and perform corresponding laboratory work in the class. Lectures will be more focused and occur before lab work or during experimental wait times.
Today's topic will be the Polymerase Chain Reaction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymerase_chain_reaction) (PCR) - how to multiply a piece of DNA to a high eenough level you can do something with it (like sequencing, or inserting it somewhere else)
I intend to have you leave the class in June with a thorough understanding of how to perform your own cloning experiments!
