What we're about

This group is for Craft beer newbies, enthusiasts, knowledgeable and Craft Beer Curious. It's also for people who don't even drink beer. Come when you can, leave when you need to. These are primarily a chance to stop, have a beverage and converse. For those more passionate about Craft Beer, it's also an opportunity to explore, learn and experience what's current and new in the Craft Beer world. Feel free to come along and invite a friend.

We have sponsors, so all of the overhead for this group is paid for. In fact, come to any event and get a card that gives discounts offered to this group by some breweries and craft beer location. For details, go here: https://www.meetup.com/CraftBeers/messages/boards/thread/48706278

(Anti-)RULES:

1. You will never be asked for dues. Just pay the venues we go to for their food, drink, activity or corkage fees. Maybe buy a beer to bring to a tasting.

2. You don't have to be on time, unless the venue states something like "The tour starts at ...". Come when you can, have a beer. Leave when you feel like it.

3. No one is pretentious. We do get to experience rare and uber tasty beers at many events. The beer or experience is the star. We just enjoy.

4. Relax, enjoy, have a beer.

5. Although beer is mentioned in every rule, you can drink anything you like, even just water. We have members that are allergic to beer, they just enjoy being around laid back, fun people.

We also post public (unhosted) beer events not organized for Meetups. (More on that here (http://www.meetup.com/Akron-Beer/messages/boards/thread/42358852/0/#117107642).) This way you can attend more beer events on your schedule, if you wish. If you hear of something, let us know!

Bimonthly Beer Tasting - March

Hudson

Due to Mike DeWine's recent announcement, we are postponing Saturday's tasting. I am tentatively moving this to next year to keep it on the calendar. If things return to a closer semblance of normality and the forced business closings are lifted soon, I'll readjust the date. However, if this ban or conditions do not get better within a month, August 1st may be the date of the next tasting. ================================================================== Actual location will be posted in the comments below in March. In a nutshell, come, bring a bottle or two of Craft beer, if you like (not required!), pay a $10 corkage fee to the location, and then have unlimited craft beer samples and fun! That's all. RSVP now. Read below for details ONLY if you need to know more. :-) Please feel free to tell friends and bring guests. The more the merrier! ####!!!Feel free to bring your own 3-6 oz glass if you like. This will help you keep track of your beer) #### Please note: Tasting glasses are provided, but PLEASE return them! If you've never been our "bottle share", it's like a mini Beer Festival! This event allows us a venue to bring in beer to share with each other. DETAILS: For people who are new to Craft Beer: IF you're not comfortable bringing beer, you don't have to! The people who would benefit most from a beer tasting, (people new to Craft Beer), may feel uncomfortable selecting a beer to bring; and those who do want to bring beer are passionate about sharing. Win win! HOW THIS WORKS: If you are NOT bringing beer, just pay the $10 corkage fee and get ready for your tastebuds to go on Safari! We'll be your cheerful guide! If you ARE bringing beer, Bring 1-2 large bottles or[masked] oz bottles of the same beer. You will still pay the $10 corkage fee, but you will also receive praise and inner joy for your generosity. Sharing is awesome! Bring beer you're passionate about, bring beer you're curious about; just bring beer you want to either try or share. There's no rules and no judgment (although bringing out of state Craft beer may get you handshakes or hugs. Someone may shed a tear). There is a fee of $10 to participate when you arrive. Why $10? This pays for the "rental" of the space, and they clean up after us.
