ES6 Hands On Session - Mostly the bits we can use now!

Venue

August's meetup will be an ES6 (Javascript) hands on session and will be at Purplebricks HQ in Shirley, Solihull.

Parking

You will be able to park on the streets around the business park. You may need to walk a short distance to the Canmore Place office building from where you park.

Directions

Google Maps Pin

The event will be held in the 1st floor of the Purplebricks head office.

Schedule

6.30pm - Arrive and network over Pizza

7:00pm - Begin the session

You don't have to bring a laptop, but it will help if you do. We'll first have a brief talk about what ES6 means for the web and for us as web developers, and how we can leverage features of it now to make Javascript suck that little bit less.

We will then dive into the handson and write some Javascript that uses some of features available to us in ES6. A long the way, we will discuss the practicality and compatibility of using these new features out there in the real world today.

If you are bringing a laptop, just about all you will need installed is a text editor and a modern browser or nodejs.

If anyone has any experience of using some of the lesser known areas of ES6 in the wild, especially on the server, please shout - it would be good to hear your experiences.

If there is a particular area of ES6 that you would like to see covered, please drop a comment in the group!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Thank you Ed. Very interesting introduction to ES6. It looks like js.next course you have mentioned is also available on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y46nckrcCok

Meetup will be held in the downstairs office today rather than upstairs like usual. It's the first door on the right from reception.
