A weekly holistic practice based on the Zen Buddhist tradition and the Mindfulness technique which is led by your guide Leandro Palacios as we connect live with him on-line from the comfort of our Community Centre Place and 65" HDTV.
These sessions are open to everyone: all religious and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities and expressions are welcome. Respect for all spiritual types and sensibilities is embraced, from those who simply wish to achieve deep relaxation, manage stress, anxiety, and depression, to those who walk the path of spiritual growth. You decide what the meaning of your meditation is.
The first section is guided and designed to help find the right posture and breathing rhythm through focusing the mind and exploring our consciousness.
This is followed by some gentle yoga and stretching exercises to relax the core muscles, and then 10 minutes of silent, unguided meditation. The session is closed out with chanting of simple mantras (short phrases).
All levels are welcome. This is a judgment-free, non-competitive environment. You're invited to sit on a chair or your own meditation cushion. Please feel free to bring a change of clothes to make your practice more comfortable.
Doors open at 5:30 pm to allow time for greetings and centering preparations. Meditation begins at 6:00 pm. The guided part ends at 7:00 pm, at which point the space is reconfigured for the incoming lecture series, which everyone is welcome to stay for, followed by the exchange of ideas over complimentary snacks and beverages.
Hope to see you there, and as always, if you are in need of a ride, please send a message to have one arranged.
NOTE: The RSVPs here represent only some folks who may attend since this event is advertised through several other on-line and print mediums.
LOCATION: Our new community centreplace is located at the bottom of Bayfield St., next to the parking lot across the street from the Salvation Army.
PS: Though there is no cost for this activity, a goodwill donation of $5 is suggested (for those who can) to help continue providing this space, activities, events and programming to the surrounding community. Tax receipts can be issued for amounts of $20 or more.
You can also visit our Products 4 Purpose store in-house or online (http://www.products4purpose.ca) and make a purchase that benefits our meaningful partner organizations, gifted artisans and local operations. Your support is gratefully appreciated!
