This month we're joined by Mark Nokkert of the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership (http://ousewashes.org.uk/) (OWLP), who'll tell us more about this three-year project to celebrate the diverse heritage of the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk Fens.
Largely funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the scheme focuses on the promotion of the area surrounding the Ouse Washes, encouraging community engagement through events, competitions and promoting historic attractions.
Unfortunately, this will be the last Creative Ely event. After three years of sociable fun, fascinating talks and events, the group is drawing to a natural close. On the plus side, this is also our Christmas event so do join us for a mince pie and an evening finding out more about how the OWLP is enhancing the lives of folk like us in the Fens!
The OWLP would also like us to spread the word of their Community Heritage Fund, a small grant scheme for projects of up to £2,000 each.
They are looking especially for arts projects – they have funded things like mural creation, school plant ID artwork, molly dancing and traditional Fenland storytelling, events at museums, and poetry workshops. They are open to a whole range of ideas, as long as they link in with the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership scheme’s objectives and will (at least partly) be delivered during their partnership festival, OuseFest 2016, 18-31 July 2016.
The next deadline is 29 February 2016. Find out more about funding opportunities (https://ousewasheslps.wordpress.com/owlp-grants-scheme/) available.
