Arthur D. Walsh presents "The Supreme Court -- Well, What About it?"
Apart from the news of the day, the U.S. Supreme Court has an influence on our lives to greater degree than we are probably aware. Yet uniquely in our system of government, we the people have almost nothing to say about how the Court functions, or how the members of the court get there. But it wasn't always that way. Who are these people? How do cases get to the court? Do we have a right to be heard there if we insist? These and other questions about the High Court will be addressed.
Arthur D. Walsh, a native of Niagara Falls, NY, grew up in St. Paul. A graduate of Cretin High School, St. Thomas College, the University of Minnesota Law School and Brown Institute of Broadcasting, he was, among other things, a gas station attendant, nightwatchman, construction worker, and trucking company jack of all trades in his youth before settling in to law practice in the Twin Cities. He is now semi-retired after a career of over 45 years of largely court related work including mechanic's liens (for improvements to real estate), real estate litigation, debtor-creditor law, environmental law, bankruptcy law and even antitrust work. He was also a radio newsman at a 50,000 watt station in Waterloo, Iowa, and still does public service announcements at KBEM-FM, a public radio jazz station operated by the Minneapolis School Board. And yes -- he is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar.
