Introduction to Crowdfunding for Newbies
Now that Colorado Crowdfunding has been divided into five distinct sections to better meet the needs of our diverse membership, some of you newer members may be wondering, "okay, but which meetup section should I attend?" On the second Monday of each month, at the Sheridan Library (see map), we hold our monthly "Introduction to Crowdfunding for Newbies" meetup during which newcomers can learn, at 50,000 foot level, the basics of crowdfunding so that you'll be able to choose the appropriate meetup section(s) that will best satisfy both your immediate and longer-term needs. While the meeting is scheduled for 5:30, the formal presentation won't begin until 6:00 or 6:15 depending on how heavy rush-hour traffic is that evening and the difficulty that members face in finding the place. But come early if you can and network with your prospective fellow crowdfunders. This is an ongoing feature of Colorado Crowdfunding, with meetups held either once a month or every other month, depending on the level of interest and the turnout. If you're new to crowdfunding, and you'd really like to get your feet wet before plunging in deeply, come to this special introductory session and learn some of the basics of this new way to secure funding as well as some other benefits. Looking forward to seeing our new members there. Ray Burrasca

What we're about

This group is for those interested in product pre-sales crowdfunding, like the Pebble Watch, Ouija Game Controller or Oculus Rift Headset for Virtual Reality Gaming . Please check the calendar for scheduled meetups for this group.

These meetings are for anyone interested in learning about traditional online "perks-based" crowdfunding for product pre-sale crowdfunding in general and Kickstarter as the largest platform in this space. It is not the space for creative projects (i.e., art, film, gaming, etc. projects), nor is it the site for either cause-based crowdfunding nor for investment-based business crowdfunding (both accredited and non-accredited) or real estate crowdfunding. Information regarding meetups in those spaces can be found at our sister sites, Colorado Crowdfunding meetup. Each of the other types of meetups for the various other kinds of crowdfunding are listed on our sister site, Colorado Crowdfunding: Investment-Based Crowdfunding for Business ( http://www.coloradocrowdfunding.org )

If you're considering starting a traditional Kickstarter-style online crowdfunding campaign, i.e., a perks-based campaign involving Technology and other Product Pre-Sales Campaigns, or if you just have questions about the opportunities and rules of these types of campaigns, join us to network with your peers who have succeeded in raising money for their projects, to learn from experts and to support each other.

On the other hand, if you're interested in any other type of crowdfunding, visit our sister-site, Colorado Crowdfunding (www.coloradocrowdfunding.org), and find out which of our crowdfunding sites is most appropriate for the kind of crowdfunding you're intending on doing and learn all you can about the rules for succeeding with crowdfunding campaigns in the area in which you are interested.
