At each bi-weekly meeting, we will host both a brief discussion focusing on issues facing fiction writers as well as member readings and individual critiques.
We'll begin by opening the floor to the group for a discussion topic such as: how to overcome writer's block, how to tackle a query letter, how to write dynamic dialogue, etc. (approx 30 mins.)
Then we'll move on to the reading/critique portion of our meeting during which writers will each have the opportunity to read a brief piece aloud to the group (approx 5 mins each MAX.) After each reading, the group will offer insightful critiques and ask you questions about your reading.
This structure allows writers to practice reading in front of a crowd, as well as how to receive constructive feedback.
Your work doesn't have to be finalized or "perfect"--in fact, we've found that it's very helpful to bring in a raw piece of fiction to gauge an audience's initial reaction.
All levels and genres are welcome, and you may also attend if you don't have a piece of writing to share.
We look forward to hearing your work!
****PLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU ARE ABLE TO ATTEND! We have a limited number of seats per event, so if you are unable to join us, remember to update your RSVP in advance so those on the waiting list have the opportunity to attend. Thanks! *******
