Welcome to Cthulhu Rising: The HP Lovecraft Society of Dallas. This group was created to bring together devotees of the literary works and legacy of Howard Phillips Lovecraft. It doesn't matter if you’re a lifelong fan or have only recently discovered his works; the only requirement is that you have a genuine interest in reading and discussing his writings, as well as the works of authors he has influenced.

PURPOSE & AGENDA
I prefer that you to think of this as both a social group and a study group. The focus will be on reading and discussing his works of fiction (which we will do in chronological order).

The group will meet about once a month, between the months of January and October. Between meetings we will read anywhere between one to four stories, depending on their length, and then discuss them at the following meeting. Letters and poems by Lovecraft, other essays and articles about Lovecraft, and other works of weird fiction will also be included from time to time.

MEMBERSHIP & ATTENDANCE
This group is open to everyone 18 years of age or older.

If you join the group you are not required to attend the meetings. However, if you RSVP yes to a meetup I ask that you please show up or change your RSVP to no so that we know not to expect you. I would like to see you attend as often as you can, because this group cannot be successful without the genuine interest and contributions of people like you who are willing to share their thoughts and insights with others.

I want this group to be successful! I want it to be fun. I want it to be educational. And I want it to be something you look forward to.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Periscope, too.

"I can't remember if I've read "A Warning..." or not. We've talked about so many stories, I can't recall if we've discussed these (and I'm not going to try to reread all comments to find out), but here are the two adaptations of "Whistl..."
