What we're about

So in your twenties you've done all those pub crawls and waded through 99 million people to get to bar. All evening you've shouted to the people next to you just to ask them their name and what they do for a living, you go home with ringing ears and then you get to a realization and now...

you'd rather discover Picasso or go to a quiet restaurant or listen to some jazz or classical music and talk to the person opposite you. If so, this is the group for you. The idea is to find a peaceful place to meet new people and discover new art, music and culture. Meetups don't have to be limited to the city, anywhere in the London area may work out.

I hate going to places alone and people I know would rather watch Talent X Voice Factor then discover The Proms, Jazz or Monet. That's why I started this group to reach out to other people like me. Why the thirties focus? I guess the group is aimed towards people who are looking to make friends, single, young professionals, postdocs, childfree couples, visitors to London who want to enjoy a more quiet and chilled out meetup. Having said that, the age range is only a guide and is not strict, please join if you feel this sounds like your thing. We're warm, non-pretentious and a welcoming bunch.

As autumn approaches, we'll be keeping the summer of culture alive with more colourful art and sculpture exhibitions, Latin music nights, Piano bars, classical music and more warm evenings and days out.

I really hope you enjoy it in this group and get to meet people like yourself here :)

Hope to see you soon,

Dev

Discover the relationship of Londoners and their alcohol.

This is the perfect guided walk for those with a keen interest in history, London and alcohol.

The walk ventures through Clerkenwell, historically an area of gin and beer production.

Delve into the past & investigate the relationship between different classes of society in London and what this meant for the alcohol they were able to drink.

You will also explore how the famous English past-time of drinking was interpreted by journalists and artists of the day, including local Georgian artist William Hogarth. It's fascinating to compare to the modern world.

Why a Road to Ruin? The tour will take you along an ancient Drover's Road in through Clerkenwell into Smithfields which was once full of pubs, breweries and distilleries. Many of those institutes may have gone but the buildings, history and stories of local characters remain. Visit interesting buildings including an 'in and out pub', a world famous inn, a brewery, two gin distilleries and even a licensed pawn broker!

Hazel will also share with you rare and interesting facts and tales and you'll leave the tour knowing the stories behind the expressions "one for the road", "a Mother's ruin" and "dead drunk".
